Mission Statement

Yana Puma (Black Jaguar) Healing and Educational Center is holistic healing center located in the Peruvian Amazon, on the Momon river approximately 6 hours from Iquitos by boat. At this healing and educational center, guests stay in a tranquil setting in the lush rainforest, surrounded by towering trees. A variety of traditional healing treatments are offered, with an emphasis on Amazonian plant medicine. Hundreds of varieties of rare medicinal plants are grown and sustainably harvested on the property, and prepared for each guest, according to their unique requirements.

The Center also provides opportunities for those interested in learning about Amazonian plant medicine to study using the time-tested traditional method of dieta. In this method, the students immerse themselves completely in the world of the jungle, staying in isolation for extended periods as they gain knowledge and experience working with the medicine plants and trees. The center also offers two-week group retreats where our guests can get an introduction to plant medicine and traditional healing techniques. For schedules and pricing for the group retreats and dietas, please click the link below for the program you are interested in. If you have questions about the center and its programs, please email us and we will reply to you as soon as possible.

The mission of Yana Puma Healing and Educational Center is to help people in the path towards spiritual, physical and mental healing and growth, to ultimately reach their true purpose in life. This is done trough unparalleled support on all levels, healing and education while simultaneously preserving and spreading the knowledge, culture and traditions of indigenous people. Another important goal is to preserve the medicinal plants and trees of the rainforest, which are being destroyed at an alarming rate. The Center seeks to accomplish this goal by building a botanical preserve and farm where these plants and trees can be sustainably harvested, so that we do not impact the local ecosystems.
